Dog Collars
Dogs need a collar to hold their dog tags and give the owner a place to attach a leash. As with anything, proud dog owners are willing to pay a lot for just the right collar. Sometimes it is just for looks, at other times the right collar is needed for training.
When I was much younger we had a VERY headstrong Airedale puppy who did NOT want to learn manners. We tried a dog obedience class with a standard choke collar and that didn't work well. It was REAL hard to get her attention in a convincing way. Some friends showed us a "German Training Collar" with prongs on the inside and that made the difference. She soon learn that when that collar went on she should heel, sit and stay as she was supposed to.
As I write this there are more than 4,000 dog collars for sale on Ebay. Some of the auctions are shown in the list below. If you click one of those links you will go directly to that auction.
As you can see, there are all kinds of collars. Some are just for pretty and some are for training. "Progress" has come to the dog collar business and I see many dog collars which incorporate some kind of wireless electronic technology. It looks like electric shocks are less popular than they were at one time, but a variety of other electronic functions are available.
The GPS enabled collars look especially interesting. It would make the search for an escaped pet much easier. I can also imagine guys who hunt with dog packs would find them helpful.
